Challenge worth 200,000€ launched to improve the city’s noise pollution

Barcelona Innova Lab Mobility is the urban mobility Living Lab powered by Barcelona City Council and the Barcelona Institute of Technology for the Habitat, supported by Fira de Barcelona. It aims to boost the implementation of innovative projects and pilot tests in smart and sustainable urban mobility.

The Lab will define a series of challenges in order to spark innovation and attract disruptive solutions related to the mobility sector. The third challenge has been now launched – with an allocation of 200,000€ in prizes. Take a read and submit your application for the chance to get your project funded and tested in Barcelona!

CHALLENGE #3

Obtention of Mobility Data based on the Identification of Acoustic Signals

Urban mobility in Barcelona is the primary contributor to the city’s noise pollution, responsible for an estimated 85% of the total noise levels. While the City Council has some data on the issue, there is a significant potential for improvement in capturing and processing mobility-related acoustic signals.This emerging field offers opportunities for innovation, providing valuable data to enhance decision-making and improve the city’s acoustic quality.

In this context, the proposal should be designed to:

Incorporate innovative and differential components utilizing innovative methodologies and resources in planning and execution.

Achieve significant and measurable outcomes by demonstrating clear, quantifiable results with long-term benefits.

Be executable in the short term with a maximum duration of 18 months from implementation to monitoring.

Be implemented in vehicles or infrastructure associated with road traffic in the city, ensuring integration with urban mobility systems.
